Episode 5: Farmer on Heels – New Year Reflections
A new year always feels like standing at the edge of a fresh field – full of promise, uncertainty, and quiet determination.
As I step into this new year, I do so on heels and gumboots, carrying lessons from the past season and seeds of hope for the one ahead. Farming has taught me that growth is never rushed. You prepare the soil, you plant intentionally, you nurture consistently, and then you trust the process.
This past year stretched me in ways I never imagined. Balancing the corporate world with building El Paj Gardens, nurturing the Farmer on Heels brand, and staying rooted in purpose required courage, discipline, and faith. There were days of exhaustion, moments of doubt, and seasons where progress felt slow – but just like farming, not every victory is loud. Some happen quietly underground.
What I’ve learned most is this: sustainability is not just about the land – it’s about life.
It’s about building systems that last, relationships that matter, and businesses that honour people, planet, and purpose. Turning chicken waste into Zari Organic Fertilizer reminded me that even what looks like waste can become value when handled with intention. The same is true of life’s challenges.
As the new year begins, my commitment is simple:
To grow with intention, not pressure
To lead with authenticity, not perfection
To build businesses that nourish lives, not just balance sheets
To stay stylish, yes – but always grounded
This year, I choose progress over perfection.
I choose patience over panic.
I choose purpose over applause.
To every woman daring to build, to farm, to lead, to dream – may this be your season of alignment, growth, and quiet wins. May your fields be fertile, your vision clear, and your courage unwavering.
Here’s to a new year of planting boldly, growing wisely, and harvesting meaningfully.
Happy New Year !
